Firstly keep up the great work at Asian Photography
magazine! I am a creative entrepreneur and hobbyist
photographer from Kolkata and I am reaching out to you to
feature a truly amazing worldwide photography movement
that we were a part of, called Help-Portrait. Since I did not
find the photography community from my city (and India
in general as well) being aware of this wonderful “Giving”
movement, I took the lead this year to start Help-Portrait
Kolkata in my city. In our modest first attempt, we gave out
120 portraits to underprivileged kids all across the city by
tying up with a local NGO. We have another event planned in
January 2013 where we intend to give out some portraits to
women weavers and textile workers.
You can find all the details and images of our activities
so far on our Facebook page. I would kindly request you
to take a look at them. I truly believe that the word about
Help-Portrait needs to spread much more in our country
since there are tons of passionate photographers here who
would love to be a part of this directly. That is the reason I
am writing to you with the hope that you will find our work
interesting enough to feature in Asian Photography magazine
and its social media channels. Thus, the word can spread
out greatly in the photo community and we can have Help-
Portrait in many more cities across India in 2013.
